A Little Bit About Us
The Painted Cottage is an evolving endeavor my husband Jim and I began fifteen years ago. Our store/studio, restaurant and home are located in an artsy and charming historic town, Collingswood N.J.
The little basement business, that Jim and I took from flea markets and craft shows, quickly turn into a full time job for both of us. Jim possessed the management capabilities and good business sense and I was armed with a paint brush, an art background, and an addiction to yard sales and antiques.
We currently occupy a 9000 square foot , late 1800’s exposed brick factory, that we use as our work space and retail store and studio. All of our painting , artwork and mosaic pieces are done on location where the customers may observe a work in progress if they wish. The Painted Cottage Studio is filled to the brim with vintage furniture and finds. Just across the street from the studio is our Painted Cottage Home store. This building was once a Woolworth Department store and still, much like our studio maintains much of it's original character. The "Home" store offers brand new furniture, fine bedding and accessories in the same casual cottage style. Finally, connected to the Painted Cottage Home is our newest addition The Painted Cottage Cafe. Our cafe serves up homemade, comfort style food in a cottagey garden setting where you can dine inside or out. Sunday Brunch is a must!
Breathing life into time worn pieces is our specialty , especially those of sentimental value. The most important aspect of our business is that it is a hands on family endeavor and we most definately love what we do. Our daughter and her "Poppy" have been very involved since the day we started. It’s that emotion that we hope translates itself into each piece we create. There is always something new, and a story that’s always changing. We look forward to creating many more one of a kind cottage pieces in the years to come.
